The Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics reports strong GDP growth driven by garment exports and remittances from abroad.

Bangladesh's economy expanded by 6.5 percent in the first quarter of the fiscal year, outpacing regional neighbors and defying global economic headwinds, according to the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics.

The growth was primarily driven by robust performance in the ready-made garment sector, which saw a 12 percent increase in exports compared to the same period last year. Remittances from Bangladeshi workers abroad also hit a record high of $2.3 billion in the quarter.

The Finance Minister expressed optimism that the country remains on track to achieve its annual growth target, though analysts caution that inflation and energy prices remain challenges.
