The United Nations Security Council held an emergency session to discuss the worsening humanitarian situation in Myanmar and its impact on neighboring countries, particularly Bangladesh, which hosts over a million Rohingya refugees.
Bangladesh's representative urged the international community to take concrete action to create conditions for the safe, voluntary, and dignified return of Rohingya refugees to their homeland in Myanmar's Rakhine State.
Several Security Council members called for an immediate ceasefire and humanitarian access to conflict-affected areas. China and Russia, however, urged caution and called for diplomatic solutions through dialogue rather than external pressure.
